I along with my girl friend are planning to trek for 8-10 days at the end of September. We are not sure we have enough time to trek Leh due to AMS/acclimatization. Our fall back option is a Garhwal Trek – Valley of Flowers. Any advice on timing for Leh or good moderate trekking routes in Garhwal?
Also, we are trying find a good agency to use and welcome any recommendations or must-avoids.
Thanks for any and all help!!!

Valley of flowers is a good option – august maybe the right time as well, a lot of flowers bloom at that time. Although it does rain a lot at that time, and landslides are pretty common on that route. Also Valley of flowers is at max a 3 day trek.
Gharwal is full of trekking options –
1. Dodi tal trek
2. Har ki doon
3. Roop kund trek
and more…

In August-september it rains a lot in Uttarakhand. Though Valley of Flowers is a good option but it would be mostly trekking in the rains the flowers are at their best in the spring. If you want to trek anyway in Uttarakhand in August-september, I’d recommend you Gangotri Gaumukh Tapovan as it’s a bit less rainy there but a bit more tiresome than the VOF.
Please keep posted with your planz..
